Although the art and science of cutting loose diamonds is relatively new, and throughout the history of the record, diamond jewelry has always been precious and worn – and diamond jewelry has only been open to the public for more than 150 years.
Prior to this, diamond jewelry was almost exclusively worn by the royal family. The earliest examples of diamonds can be traced back to the Norman invasion of England. At that time, one of the kings of Arpad in Hungary, probably Andrew I, had set the cut diamonds into the crown of the queen. However, cut diamonds will no longer be available after another half a year.
The mid 1500s was a period of vitality. Germany’s Martin Luther and the British Henry VIII and the Roman church broke down. Ivan IV (terrible) extended Russia to today’s border, while the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman extended the Turkish Empire to the west to Vienna. It was during this period of fermentation that the first diamond cutters were established in Antwerp, Belgium today. Soon, an industry was developed to evaluate the purpose of loose diamonds, which gave birth to the modern diamond jewelry market. Antwerp remains the centre of the international diamond jewellery trade 求婚戒指.
The gems used in diamond jewellery are 75% scientific and 25% art. Together, these constitute the “4 C” used to evaluate loose diamonds:
Of course, “carat” refers to the weight of a gem; carat is equal to 2 cents, or only 1/150 ounces. This means that the largest cut available, polished diamonds – the famous African star – weighs a little more than 2-1 / 4 pounds.
Although we usually think of transparent or white diamonds, they range in color from transparent white to dark amber. Pink, green, blue and even purple diamonds are not uncommon, and some diamonds are much more valuable than white diamonds.
Sharpness only means how clear the stone looks. All natural and synthetic diamonds have internal defects. The fewer or less obvious these defects, the higher the assessment may be.
These three qualities are objective and easy to measure and quantify. Tailoring is a more subjective quality; choosing a gemstone suitable for use in diamond jewelry requires good visual and aesthetic appeal.
Of course, untreated diamonds are not real jewels until they are placed in a setting such as a ring or necklace. Even the highest quality diamonds are subject to setting. This is a value added aspect of diamond jewelry.
